Therapy for older people

alte

Contrary to the popular notion that older people do not benefit from psychotherapy, new research points to successful results and a growing need for treatment.

Changes in individual circumstances during old age such as role, health, place in society, financial concerns as well as societal change itself can cause problems. This may well lead to critical psychological situations, which are nevertheless treatable.

Often at the same time, the desire emerges in older people to arrange their own life story and to come to terms with traumatic experiences.

Adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder are frequently experienced at this stage of life. Needless to say, relationship issues continue to play a role in old age.
